How We Help Service Businesses Stand Out

A lot of businesses fall into the trap of allowing themselves to appear interchangle with their competitors online. In this short video I take about the sort of problems this causes and how we help our clients become the obvious choice for the kind of work they actually want.

Video Transcript

Your business has been going for a while and you're getting a decent amount of inquiries. But lately, a lot of them have just been rubbish — loads of tire kickers, people getting multiple quotes, no one who seems genuinely keen or sees things the way you do.

This may be the economic climate or changing society, but what we often see is that it stems from a lack of differentiation.

You might be quite differentiated in reality, but online you’ve defaulted to a generic offering — showing everything you could do, and every other business in your industry has done exactly the same thing. This has been made worse by AI — everyone using it to write their content, so everything sounds the same.

The problem? You become interchangeable. The only people who contact you are price shoppers — the worst type of client, the ones that cost you the most time and give you the biggest headaches.

What we help our clients do is focus on what they already do well and build real authority in a narrower niche.

For example, maybe you’re a builder who could build all sorts of things. But instead of listing everything, you position yourself as the go-to expert for timber retaining walls. You show examples, client testimonials, geo-tagged photos, common problems you solve, and why you approach them the way you do.

You’re much better off being the person most people choose for a specific thing, rather than the person no one chooses for everything.
